When Virginia and Jim approached me to discuss this special baby gift, they told me the story of this couple. The daughter of their good friends living in Mississippi married a man from England whose mother is from England and father is from Scotland. The Mississippi grandparents were leaving shortly to greet their first grandchild in England. Jim just knew that there would be a way to mark the birth of this child with an acknowledgement of all these aspects of his/her family represented. A quilt incorporating the flags from England, Italy and the United States seemed ideal.
I agreed and began to gather fabric and consider options….
The gift was completed in time to be tucked into the suitcases of very joyful grandparents welcoming him/her to this world and to this loving family….
